Agentic commerce

Real seamless online shopping, in the age of agents

Serafim Tech is building the capability layer for agentic commerce — agent-readable primitives that let buyers, human or AI, move from intent to purchase without friction. Shipping first inside the Shopify ecosystem on the Universal Commerce Protocol. Built to scale wherever commerce goes next.

01

The opportunity

the bet

For three decades, online shopping has been designed for one species — humans clicking through pages. It mostly worked, but the friction never went away. Carts get abandoned. Promotions get missed. Checkouts break. Shoppers paid for it in time and patience.

Agents change who the buyer is. Protocols like UCP — co-developed by Shopify and Google, launched in 2026 — let AI agents discover, reason about, and transact with merchants directly. The same machinery that fixes shopping for agents fixes it for humans: programmable, declarative, predictable.

Serafim Tech is building the capability layer for that world. We start where the standard does. We go where commerce goes.

The Agent-Readiness Hierarchy

the framework

Every merchant now faces one question they were never built to answer: how ready is my store for AI agents that shop on a customer's behalf? So we wrote the framework that lets them. Five layers, scored 0–3 — a way to locate any store on a map, find the bottleneck, and know exactly what to fix next.

layer 1

Presence

"Can an agent find and reach me at all?"
What lives here

Discovery profile reachable & parseable; a live agent endpoint; agentic channels enabled.

Mostly in your control? Partly — shared with your platform & the protocol layer. This is the widest foundation: it gates everything above it.

layer 2

Comprehension

"Can it understand what I sell?"
What lives here

Catalog quality, structured data, variant resolution, semantic metadata, localization.

Mostly in your control? Yes — and one of two layers where a focused smaller merchant out-competes a bigger, sloppier one.

layer 3

Transactability

"Can an agent actually buy?"
What lives here

Cart accepts agent line items, computes totals, returns a working checkout URL; payment handlers; fulfillment options.

Mostly in your control? Mostly. This is where intent finally becomes a purchase.

layer 4

Trust

"Can the transaction be trusted?"
What lives here

Delegated authorization, Know-Your-Agent posture, transparent returns & substitution, dependability signals.

Mostly in your control? Partly — shared with payment networks, identity standards & regulators.

layer 5

Leverage

"Can I capture value and learn?"
What lives here

Agent-readable promotions, loyalty & bundles; agent attribution & observability; new monetization; the data feedback loop.

Mostly in your control? Yes — push this toward 3 for a real competitive edge.

the maturity scale

Score each layer 0–3.

0
Absent
Not there. Agents fail at this layer.
1
Basic
Present but incomplete or unreliable.
2
Functional
Works end-to-end for a competent agent.
3
Optimized
Works — and agents prefer you over a comparable merchant.
two governing principles
01
Agent-ready, not agent-dependent.

Expose your capabilities to agents without surrendering the customer. Stay the merchant of record; keep identity, payment authorization, and the post-purchase relationship.

02
The same machinery serves humans and agents.

Every layer done well also improves the human experience — clean data, a cart that always computes totals, transparent returns. The work is never wasted.

04

Built on open standards

how we ship

Every capability ships with a discovery profile, an MCP endpoint, and a JSON Schema for the wire shape. Our current implementation extends UCP — the open standard from Shopify and Google — because that's where the agentic conversation lives first. As new standards emerge, the capability layer goes with them.

About

who's behind it

Serafim Tech Limited is a UK-registered company building toward an internet where shopping is finally seamless — for humans, for agents, and for whatever's next. A team of experienced engineers, designers, and operators — decades of shipping software between us.

Software that holds up when traffic spikes, deploys break, and the quarter closes. Everything else is theater.

The work spans agentic commerce, ecommerce automation, and the infrastructure agents need to transact on behalf of buyers. Each capability ships under its own brand; the company behind them is one bet.
